Inky is a beautiful 4yo blue merle shetland sheepdog. He is very much loved by his family of four including two little girls, my neices who are 5 and 2yo. He is the most loveable, loyal family dog and we need your help!
On the 9th March Inky was in a terrible attack. This occurred at the local dog park in Drouin, which is his favorite place to visit. A girl about 20yo came in with her bull terrier and rottweiler and assured Inky's owners they were friendly. She had trouble controlling them and they took off after Inky trying to kill him. Inky's owner kicked and punched the dogs trying to get them to release. Eventually they let Inky go and he was rushed to the vet with extensive wounds.
Unfortunately due to the injuries the owner didn't stay to get the girls details.
This is now an ongoing case with the council to find the owner of these dangerous dogs.
Inky had surgery the same day which cost $1,300 on the hope that the wound would close and heal. It hasn't and a further procedure needs to be done at a cost of $5,000 which involves further surgery, cutting away the necrotic tissue and a skin graft. Also 8 weeks of ongoing vet care.
Sadly Inky's owners need some help getting funds together. My 5yo neice who sadly witnessed the whole attack is now no doubt scarred for life. She loves her dog and is absolutely heartbroken. They are facing the reality that he may need to be put to sleep being such a high cost.
Anything you can spare would be so helpful. I'm the Aunty and I'm setting up this go fund me on their behalf. They have told me they 'feel rude' asking for help but they are struggling to get together this amount of money. I'm trying to raise $4,000. The tragedy of this event should never have happened in a local dog park!
