Help for Hunnie!
Donation protected
In 2017 at the age of 8, Hunnie Primrose Morris was diagnosed with cancer, words that no parent ever expects to hear. She battled with leukaemia for 2 and a half years, robbing her of so much of her childhood, as well as the opportunity to go to school and grow up at the same pace as everyone else. So much of Hunnie's life was spent in hospitals, receiving chemotherapy and frequently facing needles, the object of fear for most children of her age. Hunnie lost her hair twice because of the intensity of her treatment, and through it all her smile and bravery remained admirable. Being from a single parent household, Hunnie's mum Lucy had to stop working to be a constant support for Hunnie, but the support from family and friends enabled them to keep up to date with bills, pay for food and transport to and from the hospital, and to treat Hunnie in celebration of her recovery and courage. 3 years after she rang the bell, signifying that she was now cancer free, Hunnie has just been told she has relapsed and her leukaemia has returned. At 14, Hunnie has another long journey ahead to fight her cancer. Having to leave your school and your friends as a young girl is such an isolating concept. As a family we know nothing can take away her cancer, or prevent her losing her hair, or give back so much of her childhood, but we appreciate all support and kind words. Again, Lucy has had to stop working to be able to support and care for Hunnie as a single parent of three. Without other sources of financial support to fall back on, the family again will struggle to make ends meet, especially in the midst of the cost of living crisis. To have cancer once as a child is devastating, but to then have it come back is something no one can really understand or accept. In order to support Hunnie and her family, I encourage anyone who can to please donate, everything counts and is so appreciated. As a community we want to show our support for Hunnie and her sisters in any ways we can as they endure through this battle together, and ensure she is as comfortable as possible throughout her treatment, and give her something to look forward to at the end. Please help if you feel you can.
As a sister to Hunnie I was so proud of how she fought her leukaemia the first time. Mine and Isla's lives were turned upside down and we lost the opportunity to grow up together as a three, but we remained focused on Hunnie and on reminding her how loved she is. I never expected this would happen twice, and to have to watch her suffer again is not a feeling that I can really describe. As siblings myself and Isla feel her pain but it's so frustrating to be so helpless and know there is nothing we can do to take away her pain. We support and love Hunnie with all our hearts, and we want to be able to give her something to celebrate her bravery and remind her that she has done this before and we're confident she will beat it again. All of the changes to our lives for the next 3 years can sometimes feel overwhelming and frightening, but we are determined to adjust and remain strong for her. We appreciate your support and help for her and our family more than ever.
