Hi, I’m John.
On July 26th (my 69th birthday, all presents welcome...) I’m setting off at 5am to paddle 30 or so miles in 12 hours along the Basingstoke Canal.
Why? Because I’ve seen what happens when a child who feels like they don’t fit in finally finds a place where they do.
My 10-year-old grandson is neurodivergent. He’s creative, funny, full of energy—but school has been tough. He often felt anxious, misunderstood, and left behind. He's been anxious and very unhappy.
Then we found Huckleberries Nurture Farm—a place where children like him are supported, celebrated, and allowed to grow in their own way. In just a few months, he’s gone from stressed and withdrawn to happy, confident, and thriving.
Huckleberries is making a real difference—but they rely on donations to continue their vital work.
So I’m paddling for him, and for all the amazing kids who deserve to be seen, supported, and believed in.
Please donate if you can. Let’s give more children a chance to shine.
I'm doing this for love of my grandson, please help me to help him.
Thank you
John X
