Help for Helen’s glioblastoma treatment

Hello, our names are Jamie, Chantelle, Marie and Lucy. We are fundraising for our Mum, Helen. Who has recently been diagnosed with glioblastoma (an aggressive form of brain cancer).

Whilst myself (Lucy), my sister Marie and our Mum were on holiday in Turkey our mum collapsed. She had a seizure, stopped breathing and required us to perform CPR. She was taken to the nearest hospital, where CT and MRI scans showed she has a Glioblastoma. We were told she required urgent Neurosurgery to remove the tumour and that the local hospitals did not have the level of knowledge to carry out the procedure. Our mum was in intensive care and, as you can imagine, was not able to fly home on a commercial flight. We arranged for our Mum to be medically repatriated to the UK using an air ambulance and a team of doctors. Her travel insurance does not entirely cover the repatriation, including the medical expenses for her 5-night stay in the Turkish hospital. Therefore, we are trying to raise as much of this cost as possible to help with the medical bill.

Since being repatriated to the UK our mum has been transferred to a Neurological centre where she awaits surgery to remove the tumour. Unfortunately, due to broken ribs from CPR we have to wait for some improvement in her chest before her Neurosurgery can take place. We are grateful to have our mum back in the UK, and in an appropriate hospital; however, the hospital is far from her family, and we would like to try and raise funds to help with travel expenses, time required off work and support for our mum post surgery.
