A couple of weeks after Bonnie and Birdie made their appearance 8 months ago, Haley started experiencing debilitating symptoms that have progressively worsened. After consulting with several doctors, undergoing many tests, and several ER visits, she was given a real diagnosis:

Scans show that Haley was born with a congenital fusion of her cervical spine, and she has a significant case of Chiari Malformation and Syringomyelia (cerebrospinal fluid cyst within the spinal cord.) Chiari Malformation is a condition where base of the brain entends into the spinal canal, and due to the severity of her case, surgery is required. On September 3, she will be having a Suboccipital Craniotomy and Cervical Laminectomy with Duraplasty (brain/spinal surgery). Chiari is not something that can be cured, but this procedure will alleviate the pressure and inflammation, allowing her to live without the daily fear of fainting, pain or paralysis.

Haley will be unable to work or care for her children for an unknown amount of time following surgery, and during this time, she will have high expenses and a reduced income. Her husband, Taylor, is doing everything he can to support their family, but the financial burden is simply too great for one person to carry alone.

This fundraiser is to help Haley and Taylor cover essential monthly living expenses, necessities for Bonnie and Birdie (formula/diapers/etc.), and medical needs during her recovery. Our goal is to ease their financial stress so Haley can focus entirely on healing and being present for her children.
