A Tribute to and Request for Grace Ricco-Pena
Grace is a patient’s nurse, a nurse’s nurse. A brilliant healer who has been a champion and advocate for patients for years. Her extensive career started with intensive care nursing to her final work with AIDS patients at SF General with a lot in between and always including holistic health practices. She was part of the first nursing strike in 1974 to get greater patient coverage of nurses in Hospitals and one of the founders of Nurses In Transition, a support group for nurses.
And now she is in need of care and support herself. We are a “posse “ of nurses and health care workers who go back a long time in this advocacy work together and are now caring and advocating for our beloved Grace who gave so much of herself to others. Due to a myriad of extensive health issues, Grace is now in need of financial support and her “posse” is helping to outreach in this need. We know there is sooo much to give to right now. But even a little bit adds up. And know it is part of a pay it forward to a “retired” nurse who despite challenging health issues still remains an advocate for patient care. Thank you for any support you can give.
Goals:
Repair indoor heating $1200 once
Cleaner: $200/month
Medical Supplies $100/month
Home Helper (4 times per month to give Ryan a day off) $1200/month
Wheelchair ramp to outside garden $1000
