Help for Gloria Conner's Bone Marrow Transplant

Hi, my name is Cindy Long and a friend of Gloria Conner. This GoFundMe is being created to help Gloria with her upcoming medical expenses for her bone marrow transplant.
Gloria is 69 years old and, up until 6 months ago, she was very active and felt much younger than her actual age. Gloria was actively painting houses, laying ceramic tiles, doing interior trim and kitchen cabinet remodels, which is how she supported herself. She started feeling very tired and passed out several times, causing her injuries to require hospitalization. At this time, her doctor decided to take some bone marrow, and the results came back as an aggressive case of Myelofibrosis, an uncommon blood cancer condition in which the bone marrow does not make blood or platelets. Myelofibrosis is considered to be chronic leukemia and is a life-threatening condition. Without her bone marrow transplant, her doctor has advised she may only have six months to live.
Gloria is under the care of a Cancer Specialist, but she has been referred to UNF in Gainesville, a bone marrow transfusion hospital. Gloria is fortunate to have insurance and Medicaid to help with most of her medical expenses; however, the money given here will help her with her travel and living expenses since she will not be able to work during this time.
Expenses for Gloria will include:
- Gas for travel time to Gainesville, which is a 3-hour round trip. Recovery time involves a full year of travel to Gainesville for follow-up visits.
- She will need to have a place to stay for three days before admission for testing;
- She will have a 2-month stay in the hospital and need to recuperate in a rental close to the hospital for an additional two months with around-the-clock care to be sure her medications are dispensed at the same time each day.
- Other incidental items such as food, utilities, etc.
