Hello friends and loved ones!
Unfortunately we have found ourselves on this site because Geronimo is in critical but stable condition. On Friday, April 14, 2017 he was working out and thought he had pinched a nerve in his neck. He was treating himself accordingly. On Saturday, April 22, 2017 he was getting ready for work and collapsed in the shower with severe back spasms and pain in his chest. He called his brother and myself to pick him up and take him into the hospital. After hours of pain meds and blood tests, he started taking a turn for the worst and the doctor ordered a CT scan of his heart. It was at this moment that they discovered he had an aortic dissection. He was put on life support and rushed to the hospital for emergency heart surgery.
The surgery was long and extensive, but he pulled through. There are still a lot of unknowns and hurdles to jump, but if anyone can do it- it's Geronimo!
A lot of people have been asking what they can do for Geronimo and now we are reaching out. We are trying to keep his world at home afloat, so he can return to what he's worked so hard for as quickly as possible. Monthly bills are our main financial focus for the moment (just the essential ones- what isn't crucial is being put on pause or canceled for the time being) but we can't do this alone. Whatever you are able to donate will be appreciated beyond belief. He is extremely loved and we are doing everything in our power to give him as little stress as possible so that he may focus on a healthy recovery.
I know everyone will want to see him and check up on him but at this time we need visit to be limited to immediate family. We have been updating everyone via text as soon as information becomes available so if you would like to be apart of the text updates let myself or (whoever) know.
Love to all and many thanks,
The Avelar Family
