The passing of Gary Markell has broken many hearts, exceptionally those of his youngest children, CJ, Anna, & Timothy. But heartache will not be their only struggle. Many expenses are on the horizon for them, sports, first car, college, medical, etc. We, Gary’s adult children and families, ask for your help. Any amount you are willing to contribute would be greatly appreciated and will go to directly benefit them. Monetary donations for this cause is requested in lieu of flowers for his memorial service. Gary Lynn Markell, of Clarkston, went to be with the Lord on October 17, 2021 at the age of 70. Gary was born in Pontiac on July 6, 1951 to beloved parents John and Thelma Markell. Devoted spouse of Cristita; Loving father of children of Esperanza: Joshua (Leah), Juston (Emalee), Melody (Harvey), Jessica (Tim), Luke (Brianna), and children of Cristita: Christopher, Anna, Timothy; Dear Grandfather to Natalie, Alexia, Samantha, Addison, Mariah, Stella, Xander, Evaline, Titus, Elliana, and grandbaby number 11; Cherished, special brother of Eric; Younger brother of Larry; Brother in law of Norberto, Rogelio, Reynaldo, Jeff Malone, Maria Myrna, Marilyn, Ma. Teresa, Jovelyn, Catherine May. Also survived by many treasured friends.
Gary attended Lake Superior State University, he worked in HR recruiting and he was a remarkable salesman. He had a passion for writing; enjoyed collecting coins, baseball cards, and movies; and was a loyal Red Wings and Tigers sports fan. Gary was smart and full of integrity, and he cared for his family and friends deeply. He will be greatly missed and remembered for his generous spirit. His love for God was apparent to everyone around him, his family finds comfort knowing he is in the arms of his Heavenly Father.
