Help for Funeral Expenses for Connie Lewis
Donation protected
June 19, 2023
Hello Everyone,
I would like to thank all of you who participated in this GoFundMe effort to help provide funds for the funeral expenses for Connie Lewis. As of today, the fundraising ends and we will not be accepting anymore donations. $7,580.00 dollars were raised minus the fees that GoFundMe charges. We reached 75% of our goal on this platform I wish to inform you that 3 significant donations were also directly paid to the funeral home, so the goal of $10,000 was not only met but it exceeded it by $500. Please know that all proceeds were used for the funeral expenses and any leftover money will be given to the family to assist in the payment of the tombstone and engraving and any other related expenses dealing with Connie and the last days of her life. Thank you again and God bless each and everyone of you.
Sincerely
Father Manuel
On June 2nd, Connie Lewis suffered a heart attack at home and 911 was called and they rushed her to Hopkins Bayview Hospital. They were able to revive her heart however they needed to wait to see about brain function. As a Greek Orthodox Priest for 35 years and a childhood friend of Connie's, I was called to go and visit her at the Hospital. I gave her Holy Communion and Holy Unction and read prayers for her complete healing and for a miracle to occur. She spent five days in the Medical Intensive Care Unit where they took good care of her. Today, they did various tests to check for brain activity and she was declared "brain dead" around 3 p.m. Soon after removing the ventilator, her heart stopped and she passed away. We pray that the Good Lord take her soul to live with Him forever and to be with her beloved parents who both just passed last year and the year before. As you know, medical and funeral expenses can be very overwhelming and I feel compassion for Connie and would like to help her by dedicating this GoFundMe in her honor and in her memory. Connie was a GOYA member and officer at St. Nicholas in Greektown in the late 70's. She is loved by many and was a good person. This is truly a tragedy for her and her surviving family members especially her only sister Kathy Lewis Weber. We know our ways are not God's ways and we must go on. I know that with the passing of both of her parents recently, there is very little left for her funeral expenses. She was very much loved by her family and friends. Connie was an avid billiard pool player and a champion at that, and she loved to fish in her spare time. I appeal to you and ask that you join me in this effort to cover the funeral expenses and any other outstanding medical/health-related bills that are unpaid. I want to place her next to her dear mother Despina Grace Lewis at Oaklawn Cemetery sometime in the very near future. Just last week, Connie said that she misses her mom greatly. It hasn't been a year that her mom passed. Please share this story with family and friends to get the word out so we can give her a proper burial and that her weary body may rest in peace. God bless you Connie and may you rise in the glory of our Lord's Resurrection one day.

I am very grateful for this day. This is the first time I have done something like this, using GoFundMe and I am so grateful to all of you for the response and love and help that you have given for this cause. Please know that in 2 days, 48 hours we have raised close to $5,000 which is 50% of our goal. The goal is to fully fund the expenses of Connie Lewis’ funeral. The viewing is Monday at Bradley Ashton Funeral home in Dundalk and the funeral on Tuesday at 11 am again at the funeral home. Go to funeral homes website to see hours of visitation. Any money remaining will be given to the family to be used for the engraving of her name, the tombstone, and any other expenses that are incurred relating to the funeral and any hospital/medical bills that were incurred from the last days of Connie’s life. Again God bless everyone and thank you. “How great and manifold are your works oh Lord.” If anyone is just hearing about my friend Connie Lewis, she passed away at the age of just 63, way too soon, before her time. As her friend and priest, I felt the need to help out in some way by offering my FB page and GoFundMe as a way that we can all help in some way. Every and any amount is appreciated. Everyone,
We only have tonight and tomorrow morning before the funeral of a dear friend, Connie Lewis, who passed away last week after a major heart attack. She was brought back to life for 5 days until it was determined that in fact there was no more brain activity. The Doctors did everything they could however they could not save her. She has been taken to be with the Lord and her parents. I personally felt the need to step in to help the family after they had so many other funerals and deaths over the last few years. Connie was suppose to live to a ripe old age but the Good Lord had other plans for her. This was definitely unexpected and I know the family has been extremely grateful for everyone who has been moved to help bury Connie on Tuesday. We have passed 50% of our goal and it is not too late to jump in and assist us to reach 100%. All proceeds will be used for Connie’s funeral and any other funeral/burial expenses and we may possibly be able to help out with any medical bills that may come in. Thank you all and God Bless you.
