Pay it Forward for Jason- Funeral and Salon

It pains me to type these words, even to think them. This world lost one of the most beautiful souls to grace it. Jason McDonald was cherished by everyone around him.
To shrink Jason down to a couple paragraphs seems such a disservice to who he was, but I’ll do my best to do him justice.
Jason had big feelings, he’d tell you that. Because of that he struggled for many years with his mental health and the disease of addiction. Also, Because of those big feelings, he was given the ability to love in an even BIGGER way.
He spoke often of the “ripple effect.” He did his best to remain aware of the ripple he was letting out into the universe, and so badly wanted it to be a positive one. He regularly reminded others to be aware of their ripples, too. He made sure to let you know when you were doing a good job at it.
“If no one’s told you today, you’re a good person and I love you.”
Jason always made sure people knew they were loved.
He struggled in life, and had demons that he fought the entire time. It made him a better person. Oh, God, he loved so deeply.
One way he did this was through art, through his talents and passion with hair. It wasn’t just the act of doing your hair, it was getting to spend that time with people. He hummed along, and listened to your pour out your heart- your worries, fears, joys, and accomplishments.
We joked that a good hairstylist was cheaper than a therapist, and he was one of the best you’d ever have.
Two of his greatest prides was his place in the hair community, specifically the Goonies, and his seat in Narcotics Anonymous.
He was able to touch the lives of so many through these two avenues.
When it came to NA, he’d find the newest member in the room and invite them to eat with us- and he always paid for them. He’d even cut their hair, given the chance. In the many times I saw those people stay clean and try to pay him back later, he’d tell them to pay it forward. Insert ripple effect
It’s time for us to come together to lay his body to rest. His mother needs us- it’s our turn to pay it forward.
If you have the ability, Jason knew as well as anyone the affects of Covid on finances, it will be so greatly appreciated.
Anything given past his memorial expenses will be given straight to salon expenses, to keep his love child, Headstrong, alive. His one is wish during these past few months, if something happened to him, was his Mama and Salon would be taken care of.
Thank you for helping us do that.
Let’s also focus on our ripple, I’ll start!
If no ones told you today, I love you. We are so very grateful how well this fundraiser did and appreciate all of the donations. The funds raised will completely cover the funeral and will keep the salon running until things settle down and we can do the legal stuff for ownership. I will have the funds deposited into my bank account and will keep up with money deposited and payments for the funeral as well as month bills at the salon. I am blown away at all of the love and support. Jason’s Service has been moved again due to hurricane Sally. It will be on Wednesday September 23 at 11am at Bayview Fisher Pou Memorial.
