Help a family survive double cancer diagnoses
Donation protected
Jon was diagnosed with ewing sarcoma cancer in January. He moved home for support through the 17 cycles of chemo treatment he will need to receive.
Not two months later, his mother Melinda was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and will need to undergo 16 cycles of chemo, mastectomy, and radiation.
For anyone who knows Melinda, you know she would give you the shirt off her back if you were in need. She is incredibly kind and generous, and supportive through the years of those in the Carbondale LGBTQ community. She has taken in countless people who needed a place to stay over the years, and her doors were specifically always open to LGBT kids who were kicked out by their families or in unsafe situations.
No family is ready for these kind of hardships, especially at the same time when you hope to support each other. They were hit especially hard with COVID spiking just after these diagnoses. Support is less available, like free places for patients to stay when visiting for treatment. Thrift stores are not open for clothes that fit (necessary due to chemo weight fluctuations.)
We are starting the goal at 10,000 to help support medical bills, gas and transportation to treatment, clothing and shelter needs, and money towards much needed healthy groceries. Anything you can donate will go so far for this wonderful family.
Please consider donating - no family should have to stress about how they are going to keep the lights on during a time when all should be focused on healing.
Thank you,
