Help for families of children who suffer from ARFID

ARFID is an eating disorder that effects

many young children. Who maybe classed as fussy eaters. ARFID stands for Avoident restrictive food intake disorder. Meaning children can be petrified of food, eating it touching it and smelling it.

My 8 year old grandaughter Nellie suffers from ARFID and this has resulted in her having serious weight loss. This has impacted on her life to the point where she no longer attends school due to serious anxiety issues around food.

Nellie is one of the lucky ones who has a team of professionals around her to monitor her weight regularly and help to educate her around food.

Sadly many families do not get this support so I am aiming to swim 1500 lengths 23 and a half miles in the month of March. To help ARFID Awareness support families and educate health professionals and Schools.

She has a small amount of safe foods she will eat sadly this is not

enough for her growth and Development. She is seriously underweight resulting in her physical development being compromised.

I am just a nanna trying to help others who are suffering the same as Nellie.
