Our friend Eric needs our help.  As many of  you know, Eric has cystic fibrosis, a serious chronic lung condition. On March 26, 2021 Eric caught a cold. He thought he was getting better, but a few days later he was having trouble breathing and went to  the ER.  Since then he has been critically ill in the ICU with pneumonia and sepsis.  He was intubated and  put on dialysis.

The good news is that he is out of septic shock, off dialysis, and is working toward getting off the ventilator. But he has a long recovery ahead of him. His medical bills will be astronomical, he will be unable to work for quite some time, and his home has to be prepared for a medically fragile person to live in.

It is enraging that we live in a nation that does not provide health care as a right to all people. Until that happens, though, stories like Eric’s will continue to be common.

All we have is each other. Eric and his family need our Gainesville community and beyond to come together and support him. Thank you for whatever you can give.
