Help for Erica Healy, Tyler Labrousse, & baby Ava
Donation protected
Hey everyone...Katie here! This is not the birth announcement my sister Erica Healy and Tyler Labrousse intended to have, but here we are…
On Monday, 8/1 at 7:25 pm, Erica and Tyler welcomed Ava Michelle Labrousse. She was born at grandma's house with an unmedicated, natural home birth that went perfectly.
Tuesday, around midnight Ava turned blue and stopped breathing. They headed to Skagit ER, and Erica was able to stimulate Ava to take some shallow breaths in the car. Skagit ER took care of the baby until an ambulance could transport her to Children’s Hospital Seattle around 6 am. At the same time, Brock and Becca drove Tyler and Erica down (they hadn't slept for a few days at that point).
Baby Ava has had several more episodes where she stops breathing and needs stimulated and oxygen to start again.
They were moved out of the NICU on Wednesday, 8/4, and placed on a different floor with continuous monitoring. Ava has had and is still going through some testing and diagnostics.
The doctors and excellent staff at Children’s received all of the chartings from Erica’s midwife and assured everyone that this is not in any way related to her home birth. Everything was done correctly and went perfectly.
Her team of doctors are now figuring out where to go from here and what the next steps are, considering they do not have definitive answers.
That being said. We don’t know how extended their stay at Children’s will be. We don’t know what this looks like long term. We don’t know a lot of stuff right now. We wanted to jump into action for them.
We decided to ask those who love Erica and Tyler if they can help, even if it’s just a little to cover some unexpected expenses that may pop up like some at home monitoring equipment, food, additional time off of work if needed, etc.
We are so thankful for Children’s Hospital and everything they provide. Still, we want to ensure Erica and Tyler aren’t hurting financially, especially if they cannot return to work in the time frame they initially planned to.
We appreciate any positive thoughts, prayers, good vibes, etc and thank you in advance!
Please do not message Tyler or Erica directly at this time as they are overwhelmed, sleep-deprived, and considerably emotional, and Erica is trying to heal from giving birth. Please message Rebecca Goodell or me if you would like. Thanks for understanding!
