The Hammonton Rotary is raising money to help a family in our community that needs to make significant modification to their home to support their daughter Emily's special needs.
Emily has a extremely rare chromosome disorder which limits her physical and cognitive abilities. This disorder causes her uncontrolled seizure disorder and many other medical complications including cortical blindness, an inability to walk, talk, crawl, or eat by mouth.

The Gollihur's moved into their current home six years ago because of Emily's needs. She has a bedroom and bathroom on the first floor now and there is a permanent ramp built at the side door. As she has grown, she is getting to the size that it is needed to begin using a mechanical lift to transfer her to and from her wheelchair, bed, and bath chair. Even though her bathroom is accessible, the space isn't large enough to properly bathe her any longer and there isn't room to maneuver the lift around the corner to the current entryway into her bedroom/bathroom.
The Gollihur's have supported our community as teachers and coaches for many years. Geoff and Aimee moved to Hammonton eighteen years ago. Geoff began teaching sixth grade the following year. He has coached both travel and recreational soccer teams since 2013 for Hammonton Youth Soccer Association and served on their board from 2013-2016. Aimee, also a teacher, resigned from her position to raise their children. Once their children were all school age, she returned to the classroom and currently teaches 3rd grade at the Warren E. Sooy, Jr. Elementary School.
The family is humbled that Hammonton is a generous community and they feel blessed to be raising their children here. They have been proud to participate in the traditions and experiences that make Hammonton unique.
They love their daughter Emily but acknowledge it is challenging to raise a child with special needs and the financial burden is often significant. The support from this community is appreciated tremendously and the family is extremely grateful.
