Help for Devin Accident Fund

My name is Devin. I’m 25 years old. I have cerebral palsy and I used to walk with a cane. Life has not been easy.
I recently moved to Illinois to live with my mom. She paid to have my truck transported by a carrier company from California. The delivery arrived the night of February 29th 2024. As the driver backed my truck off the carrier, and was driving my truck up the driveway (for me to inspect), he lost control, accelerated and tragically hit me. All I can remember is the force and pain of my truck slamming and pinning me against my mom’s car (that was parked in the garage). In seven seconds, my whole life changed for the worst. I am grateful to be alive and survived the accident. However, I am now even more disabled than I was before. I was rushed to emergency with a multitude of injuries to my right side of my body. I had internal bleeding, swelling, brushing and had to have surgery. Now, I can barely walk with a walker and in severe pain. My mom and I are still in disbelief. My mom’s car was totaled (with my body imprint and cane imbedded in the bumper) and my truck has a lot front damage. To date, I am still badly injured. Last week I had to go back to ER with severe leg pain and swelling. The doctors feared a blood clot. My days are filled with pain, discomfort, doctors’ appointments and painful physical therapy. I still can’t find a doctor to give me pain relief. My mom is now out of work taking care of me. My truck still hasn’t even been assessed for damages due to the complexity of the accident and lack of communication from insurance companies.
I am going to need endless physical and occupational therapy. Medical bills are piling up and I fear it will be a long recovery for me to be able to walk with a cane like I used to. I have to buy a power wheelchair and other equipment. The insurance company will not help with that.
I am hoping to raise enough money to pay for some medical bills and adaptive equipment. That will help immensely with my long recovery.
Being already disabled that entire experience is completely devastating. I am unable to do simple things and plagued with constant back pain and entire right body pain. I feel defeated. My doctors’ appointments are doubled and I need long term physical therapy and possibly back surgery every year for the rest of my life.
Thank you for all the donations. I really appreciate it.
