Help for destitute mum

I’m asking for help for a mum who has found herself in tough times. Yesterday a friend of mine left to go shopping and noticed a mum with her two children and suitcases waiting on the pavement. When she came back the family were still there and she asked if she could help. Yet again a single mum has been failed by the system. Moved from pillar to post. All she wants to do is get her children into education and get a job. She is given £50 a week for travel and food for 3 people. I challenge anyone to be able to do that.

The added sting in the tail this time was that the 5 days of accommodation booked in an emergency seemed to be a scam so when she turned up the landlord would not answer the door or phone. And being a Saturday of course no public office was open to help!!! and the change from £50 doesn’t go far.

Luckily my friend knows we run the best Airbnb in town and that it was vacant and is always available free of charge when needed. Tomorrow this lovely family will go back to the council and see what fate awaits them. What is stranger is that this family are British and have British passports but have been living in a different country for a while so it seems they are now not considered worthy of support or the rights they are due. We will do our best to correct that.

I know times are tough for everyone but I am trying to raise a bit of money to give this family a little leeway in life. Sometimes it’s also about knowing there are other people who support them too when many look the other way. So every £1 counts and matters.
