David and Lucky have a new GoFundMe fundraiser page that replaces this one.
Please follow their story to make a life-changing difference for this kind man and his beloved companion while he battles cancer.

David is a disabled man with cancer who struggled to survive on the streets of New York City with his cat, Lucky, for a year and a half after losing his job and home.
By the time they were able to get housing and medical assistance this year, David’s health had severely deteriorated. He is currently hospitalized while Lucky is being well cared for by a friend. They’ve come a long way but still have challenges ahead. We are doing all we can to support them through this difficult time so they can have a healthy and independent future -- but this fundraiser is critical to making that possible. You can read more of their story here and see photos/videos of their journey below.
Please help make a life-changing difference for this kind man and his beloved cat.
David suffers from both an aggressive form of cancer in his forearms, as well as a congenital disability in both hands that has been compounded by nerve damage from the cancerous growth. He is at risk of losing his right (dominant) arm from amputation if the doctors are unable to manage the cancer's progression. He has undergone a series of surgeries to remove the tumor, diseased tissue, and a section of bone that had been damaged by the tumor. Now they are in the process of reconstructing both forearms, closing them with skin grafts, and trying to surgically improve dexterity in his hands. He has also recently begun cancer immunotherapy which, if effective, will be a lifelong treatment. His insurance has been denying coverage more frequently and threatening to drop him because of the cost of his care.
He is bravely enduring these extremely painful and debilitating procedures, though he's been hospitalized for many months and unable to see his beloved cat during this time which has also been hard. David rescued Lucky as a starving kitten and they have been inseparable ever since. They went through so much together on the streets and David says his love for Lucky is the only reason he was able to persevere. When David is finally discharged from the hospital, he will have a difficult recovery and rehabilitation ahead, and he will need to rebuild his life so he can be self-sufficient again -- all amidst a pandemic. We hope to help him recover, secure long-term housing, and find gainful employment, so they never have to suffer on the street again.

Note that this is a continuation of their previous fundraiser Help for David and Lucky which had to be retired for GFM platform upgrades. However, you can still view background information, photos, and older updates on that page -- but if you are interested in contributing to help them, please do so on the current page.
Thank you kindly for caring.
