My amazing friends, Darcy and Scott have been hit from every angle. Like a lot of folks, Darcy's hours were affected with COVID-19 in 2020 and she had to miss a lot of work when daycare would close for Rosalynn or if Darcy got a cold (which seemed to happen a lot). Fast forward to the late fall. Everyone was trying to get back to normal with schedules, make sure bills were paid and Darcy came down extremely sick out of the blue one day. She did her best to push through the workday and ultimately ended up in the ED. They did a CT scan, blood work, and she went for an eye exam. No abnormal findings. Darcy was suffering from debilitating double vision, weight loss, and nausea. Not being able to see straight, she was unable to drive or work for a couple of weeks. Slowly her vision started to correct itself but during this time, her short-term memory started to fail. Darcy worked as much as she could to help maintain the household and she continued to do everything she could for her 3 children. Now entering the spring of 2021, she lost her job due to her failing health. Having no health insurance, now no job, her health still failing with no answers, Darcy and Scott are struggling emotionally and starting to feel it financially. The beginning of April starts and Darcy gets the devastating news that her father unexpectedly passed away from throat cancer.  Another blow to the family. Only a few days later, while trying to keep his family afloat, Scott's shop where he works as a mechanic with his uncle, is broken into and over $8000 worth of his tools were stolen. Scott has been the hardest worker since we were teenagers and has worked with his uncle for about as long. 

This family of 5 is the kindest, most caring, fun, loving, and happiest you will ever meet. Hearing my best friends struggle each day, worry about what tomorrow will bring, have to start over for both careers, and now pick up the pieces of Erik's life (Darcy's dad), has been heart-wrenching, to say the least. I am doing my best to fly out to them when it is safe and I am able to do so, so I can help in any way.  Family is doing everything they can to help as well, but really, they could use any financial help possible at this time. Darcy needs to get to the bottom of her medical needs so she is here for her children and husband, plus she so badly wants to be able to work and help provide. Scott needs to rebuild his tool collection so he can continue to work, and they need to come up with the funds to cover funeral costs for Erik. On top of it all, Darcy has to clean out Erik's house and take care of his "estate."
