Help for Dan Rappana and Family
Donation protected
On September 3rd, Dan was admitted to the hospital for a variety of urgent symptoms, including paralysis spreading upward from his legs. After almost two weeks in the ICU, a test came back positive for West Nile Virus. The doctors have determined that the West Nile triggered transverse myelitis (inflammation of the spinal cord leading to neurological dysfunction) and encephalitis (swelling of the brain). Due to the transverse myelitis, Dan does not have any movement or feeling in his lower bod, and very little in his upper body.
On 9/15 Dan was moved to a long-term acute care facility for the long road to recovery. There have been some very encouraging signs that he is on the path to healing, but it will be a very long journey (the doctors are talking months, if not years--and while they have said full recovery is possible, they have also said long-term or even permanent disabilities are likely).
If you are able to help financially, your contribution will go toward paying Dan's medical expenses, covering loss of income, and making necessary changes to their home to accommodate Dan's long-term or even permanent disabilities. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your generosity!
Please pray that Dan would quickly become strong enough to breath on his own and that he would recover full function and mobility. Please also pray for Lisa (wife), Whitney (daughter), and Dathan (son) during this difficult time! The family is praying the following prayer at 8pm Central Time each evening, and we invite you to join us:
Think, O God, of Dan who is ill,
whom we now commend to Your compassionate regard.
No healing is too hard if it be Your will.
We therefore pray that You bless Dan with Your loving care,
renew his strength, and heal what ails him,
in Your Loving Name,
Amen.
