Help for Daemon and his Family

Hi there I’m Krystal, Tanya’s cousin. I’m starting this go fund me page to help with hospital costs like parking, fuel, food and anything else that might help.

As some of you may know Daemon was in a serious motorbike accident on Friday the 23rd of August on the way to work.

He was rushed to Westmead Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery to his brain and legs.

Injuries sustained were as follows:

• Basal Skull fracture resulting in air bubbles in his brain

• Bleeding to the frontal lobe

• facial fractures including nose, jaw, roof of mouth, cheekbones, and eyebrows

• deep laceration to right eye just under his eyebrow

• Fractured collarbone

• Fractured elbow

• collapsed lungs on scene

• lacerations to his liver and spleen

• open fractured to Femur in both legs

• Open fractures to both shin bones in both legs

• damage to artery in left leg at the site of one of the fractures

• ruptured cornea leaving him blind in left eye, and unknown extent of damage to right eye

Daemon underwent emergency Brain surgery on the day he was brought in, where they inserted a pressure monitor under the scalp to monitor the brain bleeding and swelling

He then underwent emergency Surgery on both of his legs, where they caged his legs and used a traction device to keep his bones aligned until permanent surgery could be performed.

He had drainage tubes inserted to both lungs to drain the fluid from the collapsed lungs

He came out of surgery and was placed in an induced coma to be monitored closely.

Surgery was scheduled for Sunday for his legs.

On Sunday 25th August he had

Surgery for the Right leg - everything went to plan for the right leg

Monday 26th August - Daemon went in for surgery on his left leg. Mostly successful however they were unable to close up the open fracture that has the damaged artery.

This mean he will be back in theatre again tomorrow (Tuesday 27/8/24) where they will take a tissue graft from his thigh that has healthy skin, fatty tissues, and blood supply to close up the wound and reroute the arterial plumbing to give better blood supply to the bone for the best chance at healing.

He will go into theatre roughly lunch time for and 8-10 hour procedure.

They will be attending to the laceration to his eyebrow in the same sitting and reconnect the muscle and clean up the cut etc.

He will be left with an additional wound to his thigh that will need monitoring and the area of the fracture will have thicker discoloured skin and tissue which can be addressed later down the track.

Plastic surgeons will also be taking a look at his facial fractures to assess whether or not he will need work done on the fractures to his facial bones or whether they can leave them to heal on their own.
