Help for Clayton and Frannie's BFF, Floyd.
Hello friends and fam! This is Steph, Clayton's big sis. Clayton is in Denver this week for treatment for Floyd. His story follows.... :)
As you know, our family has experienced a lot of loss. I've never asked for donations because it felt cheesy, but I wanted to set this up for Clay, even though he may not have loved the idea. Despite the daily pics and videos that I receive, I never realized the depth of a bond with a pet until I witnessed him lose his first pup, Lucy, while he was taking care of our Dad on hospice. It was heartwrenching. Clay has since adopted two more rescue pups, Floyd and Frannie. They are his children.
Floyd was adopted around Christmastime right before our Dad died. He is two years old. Floyd started experiencing bloody noses, and unfortunately, it was discovered to be a tumor from lymphoma (cancer). The first thing Clay said to me was, "I don't care what it takes, I'm getting him help."
After amazing consultation from Shiloh Vet, Clayton, Floyd, and Frannie began their road trip to Denver for specialty cancer care. They will be there for about one week. The vet oncologist is hopeful because it was caught fairly early, and they do not see evidence that it has advanced from the nose area to the eyes or brain. They are checking his lymph nodes today. He will be receiving several doses of radiation this week. Clayton and Frannie would like to hold onto their Floyd for a while. ;)
When I asked him how much his expenses would be, he said around $8,000. He said he would have to dip into emergency funds. He didn't feel comfortable asking for so much, so I set it to $5,000. Honestly, any little bit will help him out, and he will certainly be so grateful. Thanks so much!
