This fundraiser is on behalf of Cathy Diomampo-Green (Ms. D) to help with the costs of her stroke recovery and aftercare.

For those of you that don’t know, Cathy is my aunt and was, until this horrible incident, a teacher at Challenger Middle School, known by her students as “Ms. D”.
If you’ve met Cathy, I know she’s put a smile on your face with her bubbly and positive personality, and you know she is one of the kindest and most selfless people you’ll meet, dedicating her life to helping others through teaching.
Now she needs our positivity and help as she recovers.
At the beginning of August 2020, Cathy suffered a massive stroke, and her recovery hasn’t been an easy one. At first, we didn’t know just how severe the stroke was and received more information after an appointment with a vascular surgeon towards the end of November. To add to the stroke complications, Cathy contracted COVID-19 in January. Though she has fully recovered, COVID-19 and the current COVID-19 restrictions at her rehabilitation facility, have made her recovery slower and more difficult than we could have ever imagined.
Cathy’s stroke has left her primarily confined to a hospital bed with limited mobility and speech. While she is making progress, Cathy faces a long and challenging road ahead and insurance is, unfortunately, not covering all the costs for the aggressive amount of therapy she still needs. It is truly heartbreaking to share that, at this time, Cathy is unable to resume teaching, and for those of you that know how much she loves her students, this is extremely devastating.
My uncle and Cathy’s husband, Earl, is the beneficiary of this fundraiser and has been busy working non-stop to ensure Cathy is getting the care she needs.
For those of you that have asked how you can help, your donation would help with the medical bills and therapy (physical, occupational, and speech), the modifications that need to be done to the house, and various medical equipment needs.
These home renovations include making the entrance of the house and bathroom accessible to ensure Cathy can return home safely and comfortably.
The medical equipment needs include a wheelchair, ramp, hospital bed, lift, and wheelchair accessible van.
These are just a few of the costs we know of now, with more inevitable costs like home health care that we can’t even begin to wrap our heads around. Cathy’s road to recovery is indeed an expensive one, and many of these costs will be out of pocket for Cathy and Earl. Due to COVID-19, Earl, who works in a non-teaching position at a school district, is on unemployment, and with Cathy unable to return to work, these out of pocket costs are a huge stress.
I want to express how much I, and my entire family, appreciates your help and support during this difficult time. We all want Cathy to receive the best care possible and have access to every resource available to ensure her recovery and quality of life. Thank you for making it to this page, and thank you for your help in relieving some of the financial stress this horrible and unforeseen incident has caused.
I understand times are extremely tough for everyone, and if donating financial support is not an option at this time, please consider signing this virtual get well card and sending Cathy your well wishes and positive thoughts instead. You can also share this fundraiser on your social media or with your friends and family.
The most important thing we can all do is show Cathy she is not alone in this fight and how much she is loved by everyone.
