Hi I'm Lissa, Cassandra's friend since junior high.

As you may know, Cass learned in March she has a rare form of Gynecological cancer (Vulvar cancer). After delays to find an Oncologist that would take her insurance, Cass landed in good hands at UCSD Moores Cancer Center. Due to unforseen circumstances, they have to reschedule her surgery twice now. The second time she was already out on leave and had to use all her personal time off to make her paycheck even that week.

Cass is back on medical leave, and her surgery is now rescheduled for June 23rd. However, medical leave will leave them at only 60% income (once California starts paying) and her secondary income she earns by hosting exchange students has been paused due to surgery as well.

I’ve created this GoFundMe in hopes of alleviating any added financial stress for Cassandra & Wade while she is undergoing surgery and on medical leave for the next six weeks. While the recovery process is going to be monumental enough to cope with, the additional worry over finances are simply just too much. Hopefully, these funds will help cover the expenses on a diminished income; and help with meals/takeout as Cass will likely be off her feet, not cooking, not driving, etc. for 2-4 weeks.

She's been a huge inspiration to me through the years as a fellow single mom, has kicked serious butt providing for her family all these years and needs our help now. Anything will help ($1, $5, anything),
