Barrera Family -

Carolina Barrera has been battling kidney failure the past several years. On Monday May 10th, 2021 she learned that continuing dialysis would no longer be possible and that she had a few days to a month to live. She is currently at home receiving hospice care.  As you can imagine, this has been devastating for her husband and their four children.

Islam Barrera, Carolina’s husband, serves the community as a volunteer firefighter in his hometown of Glencoe.  He is also a care provider at a senior living community and memory care. Together he and Carolina have four children - Wendy, Isi, Korey and Kendra.

Wendy, their oldest daughter, is 18 and graduating this June, which her mom may not be able to witness. Their son Isi is 14 and twins Kendra and Korey are 8 years old.  Throughout her struggles with her health, Carolina’s number one focus has remained on her family.  Her only concern is for their future well-being.

All funds raised will go toward funeral expenses, medical bills, and caring for her family as they navigate a future without the wife and mother they love.
