Help for Brownie’s vet bills

I really appreciate those of you who have been following and morally supporting my heartbreaking experience of losing my dog, Blue, and almost losing my dog, Brownie, Blue's best friend. Your kind comments, sympathy, and prayers mean the world to me. These dogs were my life so I'm sure you can imagine how painful and traumatizing this has been. I haven't been eating, I can't sleep, and have been spending all my time and money helping Brownie recover.

What happened was, a couple Sundays ago the dogs escaped the house when we were coming home from work early in the morning. The next Monday afternoon, Brownie showed up by himself on the front porch exhausted with bleeding wounds all over his body. We thought he just gotten into a fight with another dog, but when we looked closer, we realized they were gunshot wounds. He had been shot. I was in a state of shock when we went out to try to find Blue. The next day my worst fear was realized. Blue had been shot, killed, and then thrown in the trash by the same aggressive overreacting neighbor who shot Brownie. Brownie, we were told, actually wanted to stay with Blue, but got scared and somehow miraculously made it home, having no idea what happened to him.

This has not only been heartbreaking, but is getting very expensive. Thank God, Brownie survived but he has needed lots of emergency veterinary and medical care due to his potentially fatal wounds. Worse, one of the bullets went through his eye, so to avoid infection, he needs it surgically removed so it doesn't cause problems down the line.

So far I’ve been covering all the vet and medical expenses on my own, but they are adding up beyond my means. The total cost to get Brownie on his feet and healthy again will probably be around $12,000, but I am only asking your help to cover the expense of the eye surgery, which is about $5000.

Anything you can donate will be very much appreciated during me and Brownie's time of need.
