Help for Brian and Megan Moulton

Show any child that attends Madrid Waddington school a picture of Brian Moulton and ask them who he is - the answer will be “that’s Firefighter Brian!”. Brian is well known in our community for his kindness and how much he cares about the safety and well-being of the local kids. Brian has dedicated his life to helping this community, not only as a firefighter, but in the many other ways he gives back. Brian and Megan run the ice rink in the winter time giving our kids a safe and fun environment to ice skate. He spends hours flooding and grooming the ice for the kids. In addition, they are always ready and willing to help out for things such as the Madrid Block Party, the UCM Pulled Pork Dinner, the Madrid Fire Department Turkey Dinner…the list could go on and on. Brian and Megan truly care about people. When my son was sick on Halloween “Uncle Brian and Aunt Megan” came and trick or treated to our house bringing them way more candy than they ever would have received the few houses we allow them to trick or treat. A few years ago when my husband was out of work we got a message from Brian saying stop by we have a little something for the boys – that little something were huge baskets full of Easter candy and toys. They don’t do it for the atta boy or attention – they do it because they love their friends, family and community. Now it is time for our community to help take care of them!
Late November Brian started having severe abdominal pain. On November 29th the pain became too much resulting in the first of many ER visits. In the last month Brian has had to go to the ER twice with 1 overnight stay and one 4 day admission. CPH did a CT scan, heart monitor and an ultrasound during his first admission to the hospital. By morning the pain had subsided so they discharged him. The next day the pain was back and so he returned to the ER again. At that time they performed an ultrasound on his gallbladder and recommended he get a HIDA scan the following Monday. Two nights later he was in the ER at MMH which resulted in a 4-day hospitalization. There they performed the HIDA scan, an endoscopy, a colonoscopy, a CT scan and an oxygen test due to his O2 sats dropping to 29% while he was sleeping. Due to the low O2 sats he couldn’t be discharged until they could get him into the sleep lab for a sleep study. Once completed he was setup on a BIPAP and discharged. Most recently he has had a gastric emptying study and on the 8th of January he is setup to do a test where they will have him swallow a pill cam. Currently Brian has already missed 12 days of work and Megan has missed 8 – as they still don’t have any answers there is no way of knowing how many more they will be missing trying to find the answers to his debilitating pain that seems to come and go. As you can imagine the bills are starting to roll in. Currently they have over $5,000 just in medical copays/deductibles and expenses. Add to that the lost wages and you will understand why I chose to start this fund at such a high amount.
Anyone that knows Bear and Megan knows they would NEVER ask for help so I am asking our community to come together and show them some love. Let’s show them how much they mean to each and everyone of our lives! No amount is too small. All the money raised will go directly to Brian and Megan. Please show your support of this awesome couple. I also ask that you keep Brian in your prayers as well as the medical professionals that they will be able to figure out the source of his pain.
Thank you,
Tonya Moulton
