Help for Brenda Curé's family
My aunty Brenda was a beautiful individual who was always ready to help anyone. She was my fun aunty, one who I knew loved me and her kids, and was always up for a visit. During my many visits to Edmonton, she would proudly take me around to places like the flea market, introducing me to so many people. It was obvious to me then, even all those years ago, that my matante Brenda was loved. Her friendships grew over the years, and she developed a large number of close relationships.
I am setting up this fundraiser to help my cousins, Ally and Bryan, as they will be faced with financial burdens that seem so unfair while they mourn the loss of their mom.
Brenda was unknowingly sick for years with a fatal lung disease. She went into the hospital with a very low oxygen level. Her medical team did everything they could before they asked her to consent to intubation. Her heartbreaking last Facebook post shows she believed the medical interventions would heal her: "I sleep for a few days...Love you all! Talk to you when I get up." We had no reason to believe that less than 2 weeks later, her heart would stop beating because her lungs couldn't work anymore.
I ask that you consider making a donation, of any size. Brenda liked collecting things, so part of the funds will go towards a storage locker, allowing her family time to go through her treasures. Funds will also be used to help Brenda's beloved cats. Funds will then be put towards costs associated with eventual funerary expenses.
Brenda loved so many people-her kids, grandkids, family and friends. On behalf of her family, thank you for the beautiful messages and gestures-the candles, prayers, and well-wishes. She would want everyone to cheer on her Oilers and remember the fun times she spent with all of you.
Thank you.
