Corrine and Ben are incredible, hardworking and caring people and their daughter Nora is a sweet, smart little girl who is so full of life and love. Their family dog Boomer, a rescue, is Nora's best friend. This spring they will be adding another little angel to their family. This should be such a happy time, but this family is struggling and needs your help.
Yesterday Corrine and Ben found out the gender of their new baby. On the way home to reveal to their family if the newest addition would be a boy or girl they got a call that there had been an accident involving their precious Boomer. They rushed to the scene to find that Boomer and Millie (Corrine's sister's puppy) had gotten out and been hit by a car. Millie passed away instantly and Boomer was badly injured and not breathing/had no pulse. Corrine and Ben rushed to the emergency vet where Boomer was given CPR and revived. He was taken into surgery and had multiple blood transfusions and plasma. He is on heavy doses of mophine to numb his pain and he is requiring a lot of imaging to assess the damage to his organs. He is also on lots of antibiotics to fight infection. As of right now something is draining blood into his abdomen and air is escaping into his lungs, making it hard for him to breath.
The most recent scan Boomer had late today shows that given the trauma he has been through, he looks good. The vets will be taking his chest tube out a little at a time to see if he can breathe on his own. Unfortunately, Boomer tore a pretty significant tendon in his back leg and had to have 1/3 of his skin removed in that same leg because it was dying off. This leg will need to be amputated.
So far Boomer's vet bill is near $10,000. Due to the severity of his injuries the vet has told Corrine and Ben that Boomer will likely require more surgeries and a lengthy stay at the animal hospital, and they should expect a total of approximately $18,000 to cover his care. This cost is astronomical, but Boomer is family and Corrine and Ben are committed to bringing Nora's best friend home to her.
This is where we come in. Corrine and Ben would never ask for money or help, but they so desperately need it. If you can spare any amount of money to help out this family it would be so much appreciated. Please share this too so that we can reach as many people as possible.
We will also continue to update you on Boomer's progress and hope you will follow his story and hug your pups extra close tonight.
Thank you so much.
