My son/my friend/my canine companion 13 1/2 year old Boogie D'Angelo Jones, is facing a tough illness.
On March 20, 2019 Boogie was officially diagnosed with lymphoma, cancer of the lymphatic system. This cancer has 5 stages, with the 5th stage being the worse. My vet and oncologist believe he is at stage 3 of the lymphoma because he has enlarged lymph nodes under his throat and along his thigh. This form of cancer is not curable but it's treatable and can help prolong the life of my lil man anywhere from 3-14months, maybe longer. There are many options that can prolong his life but the best and most effective option is called CHOP therapy (a chemotherapy that help dogs remain in remission for a good length of time). Yesterday was our 1st oncologist visit and Unfortunately the CHOP therapy was way beyond my financial means . CHOP has 4 cycles and each cycle runs approximately $2000, with a total of $8000 or more. I want the best treatment for my lil man but the reality is, I can't afford it. I was able to start an alternative chemo treatment but because of the costs I had to forgo additional tests, additional health screenings, and a echo/cardio-gram of his heart (He also has a heart murmur that he's been managing fairly well for the last 5 years).
Within 24 hours after his 1st chemo injection Boogie is feeling better and his lymph nodes are shrinking, he's breathing a bit better, eating even more, and talking (Yes he's a talker..."WooWooo").
I am reaching out for financial support to help with medical costs, homeopathic options, and diet nutrition costs for my Boogie. So far with 2 vet visits and 1 oncologist visit I've spent a total of $1400. Next week Thursday, April 4 is our 2nd visit to the oncologist for his 2nd round of chemo. From my knowledge the bill for each visit just for consult and chemo injection will be approximately $700. He will need up to 4 or maybe more visits. I'll have better info after my 2nd consult and if I'm able to get Boogie's Lymph node screening, his Ultrasound, and heart screening. Those 3 screenings will tell us what stage he's in and they type of lymphoma, B-Cell or T-Cell, and which direction to further explore with his treatment. But again, these screenings and tests cost.
Boogie is a fighter and a strong lil man. Even when he's not feeling good he tries his best to be there for me to be happy and wag his tail and wait at the door when I arrive home. The last few weeks he's pushed himself to get off the couch or his doggie bed to meet me by the door but my lil man was struggling to do that. He's like me, pushing through even when I know I'm not in my best physical state. He does that because he has a big heart full of unconditional/undying love. Boogie has been with me for his entire life, and he has helped keep my mental health stable because I've struggled with depression and anxiety. I love this little guy and I hope you can help him live a little longer but most important live comfortably.
Thank you.
