Please help us get Billie back on her feet.
My name is Markus Serrano and I am writing this in an attempt to help my friend who has been in a major car accident. If anyone that knows Billie Ragains knows that she is a caring individual with a big heart and a great soul. Billie, as the caregiver to three pet cats, has always been selfless and has always cared about everyone and everything around her.
Billie had moved to Los Angeles to create a life as an esthetician and a hairstylist, but like many other estheticians in our community today, COVID-19 hindered her dreams. The shelter in place and the closure of salons made her unable to work and sustain a life in Los Angeles. Billie ended up moving back home to be closer to her parents and to rediscover how to deal with life during these stressful times.
During this transition, Billie ended up being in a horrible car accident that resulted in her C5-C6 disks in her vertebrae pressing down on the rest of her spine, making her immobile from the neck down. Due to the amazing doctors caring for her, she has begun feeling some sensation in her thigh and toe, but the recovery process may be a long one. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, she has been fighting this fight on her own, with no one being allowed to visit her or see her. She has been hospitalized since 8/18/2020 with all news being received by brief phone calls during her recovery.
Billie has recently undergone surgery to help alleviate the pressure in her spine; The first step in her healing process. However, due to the horrible car accident, it is unknown how long the healing process will be. After she is released from the hospital, Billie will have to go to a rehab facility with 24-hour care to help her gain back her mobility and relearn how to use her limbs and feed herself. The uncertainty of recovery time, recovery costs, and future medical care, Billie will be facing many obstacles and treatments on her way to recovery. In preparation for the immense emotional and financial toll this will take on her family, we are looking to do everything possible to aid Billie along her journey. Billie has been dealing with this situation on her own in the hospital and we hope to make some things a little easier for her.
We are asking for any sort of gesture to help her and her family conquer this situation and asking for your participation to help her along this difficult journey. Billie had just picked up a hobby in roller skating and it is her dream to be able to get back on her feet and pursue this hobby and get back to work in doing hair.
If you cannot donate, please share this in support of Billie. She is a huge part of our lives and we are hoping to face this with strength, support, and faith behind her. We love you, Billie!
