Hi all,
This page is set up by two members of Rage Darling's Community and The Pleborians, and we would like your help. Rage's beloved dog, Beau, has been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, as well as other medical problems, and we would really like to try and support Rage with Beau's vet bills.
All funds raised with go towards Beau's care and any support, little or large, will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance ❤️

A message from Rage aka. Jess:
I wanted to say thank you for setting up this GoFundMe page. I've been reluctant to ask for financial help because part of me believes that by doing so I'm admitting defeat, and acknowledging that there's a problem that I can't fix on my own. However, after talking to Nate and other members of the community, it's been explained to me that our community simply would like the opportunity to help Beau, as she's part of your lives just as she is mine.
I've had Beau since I was 13 years old. She's grown up alongside me as my best friend, and now my baby. I don't know what I'd do without her.

I'd like to explain her story a little...
Back in March I went away for 3 weeks for work, but while I was away Beau stopped eating. When I came back home she looked sick, and she didn't want to walk as much. I just assumed that she missed me and the lack of walking was down to arthritis and so I took her to the vets to put her on some medication to alleviate the pain. Whilst there they suggested that she have some bloods done, just to make sure she was in good health. I agreed, took the arthritis medication, and thought nothing of it.
Two days pass and I'm walking Beau in the field, and I get a phone call from the vet.

She tells me that she has Beau's bloods back and whether I'm able to talk about it right now or if another time is more appropriate - immeditely alarm bells start ringing and I feel a pit in my stomach. I tell her that I'm fine to take the call and she proceeds to tell me that Beau's kidney levels shows that she has Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and that it's progression is about the middle of stage 2.
Unfortunately, unlike with cats, CKD is unpredictable, deadly and aggressive. There's no real telling what the prognosis is but it can be anywhere between a year and a few months.
On top of that her Phosphate levels are really high (a chemical in her blood that makes her really sleepy, nauseous and lethargic). I asked her what the solution was to 'fix her' but there is no 'fixing' CKD, it's a disease, you have to manage it and slow it down - and so that's what we've been trying to do. I filmed this TikTok just moments before the vet called me https://www.tiktok.com/@avgwowegirl/video/7528015225845714199) and looking back on it, I had no idea what was coming... sad really.

Beau began with special food and medication to bring her phosphate down, but she was also urinating very high levels of protein, so her muscles were wasting away. We took her to the Small Animal Teating Hospital in Leahurst, Liverpool (SATH) where they ran more tests to see what was going on. This is where we learnt that she is actually end stage 2 of CKD and not middle stage 2.
Tests revealed that something scary was also going on with her liver. It was coming up all wrong on the scans. More tests later showed that she has an enlarged liver, as well as something wrong with her heart that means she's at increased risk of heart attacks. My poor baby...

A month of her medications as well as trying a handful of special renal food, which has been such a challenging trial and error, and she finally settles on this particular food. She goes back for more blood tests and it's imperative that we keep tracking her kidney levels whilst on this new regime. Unfortunately the tests showed that she's now on stage 3. There's only one stage left and I hadn't even got the chance to slow it down yet...

Another month goes by, another set of blood tests. This time something showed not okay and so they call us back immeditely for another set of blood tests. At this point I'm in tears, I'm an absolute mess. I just want her to be okay so we can go back to normal. Her phosphate levels have risen very high again, and she stops eating for 2-3 days at this point. The vets at SATH explain to me how important it is that she eats, because the longer a dog with CKD goes without eating, the higher chance their kidneys will just pack up.
And so I switch her food to something ideal for CKD but not so ideal for her pancreatitis, because at this point she just really needs to eat. And she laps it up, clean bowls all around - 3 days. And then suddenly, nothing. She stops eating again, she's lethargic, she's unresponsive, she's toileting badly and she's just a shell of herself. I'm spoon feeding her, hand feeding her, sat crying at her bowl begging her to eat but she just won't.

I take her to the vets on the weekend and they explain that she has a bout of colitis - odd, because she has a history of pancreatitis, but if they say so. More medication, at this point we're up to 4 pain relief tablets, 1 phosphate binder, 1 heart tablet, and 1 other tablet, plus a new paste and 1 other new tablet for her tummy. She refuses to eat on Sunday, and by Monday morning she stops after a few steps on the fiel and refuses to move.
Then I noticed something horrible from her bum - I call for the vets and they tell me to bring her in immeditately. They keep her in all day running more tests and it turns out she does in fact have pancreatitis, and the horrible thing I saw was inflamed tissue from her intestines. They give her a pain relief injection and an appetitie stimulant and give her back to me. All the staff at our local vets love "little Beau", and know her very well by now, and so on the way out they give her much love.

And now we're here... due to go to the vets tomorrow (29/07/2025) to see how she is. She's eaten twice since then but is still refusing to eat her regular food, including treats. She's still not herself, she just seems so out of it. I'm praying that she gets her spark back soon and starts eating again because pancreatitis, although just a 'flare up' can be a killer for dogs with CKD. It's a knock on effect that just keeps dominoing. Please keep her in your thoughts.

Now for the financial side of things...
I've been asked "why not go through insurance?" and I wanted to quickly explain the situation:
Beau is with M&S Pet Insurance which I pay £80 a month for, and have for a very long time. They cover up to £1,000 per condition, per year, which Beau maxed out for her kidney diease pretty quickly. Since then I have been paying out of pocket for every scan, test, medicine and food trial she's had.
If you took the time to read the above then you probably have a good idea of how much it's all cost - thousands.
I've been getting by by selling personal items and putting the money into a pot, as well as borrowing large sums. However, I'm right at the end of the road with that, and no where left to turn. Additionally, the liver tests she had, her insurance is fighting me on this to not cover it as they deemed it to do with "kidney/renal" and not her liver. I'm really hoping I win the fight on this otherwise I will have to find an additional £1,000 to pay for the tests.
The idea of asking for help makes me really upset because I've always wanted to do things on my own, but I can't anymore. So if you have money to spare then please consider helping Beau, it would mean the absolute world to us. Thank you.
