(Please see latest updates as she now has Liver problems.)
Hi my name is Arlene Peacock and I'm trying to raise money to help Beau who is my Son's half sister who has suddenly became ill Nov 2023 with an incurable life threatening disease. We want to make her life as comfortable and happy as we can but we need your help please
Beau had just celebrated her 13th birthday when she suddenly collapsed at school the next day 28th November 2023. She was unconscious and rushed to Hospital and placed in intensive care. Beau's and her family's life had been turned upside down, never to be the same again. After weeks of tests at Newcastle's Freemans hospital she has been diagnosed with a life threatening incurable disease ‘Idiopathic Primary PAH’ ( Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension ) Edit: this has now changed 21st Feb 2024 to Porto Pulmonary Hypertension and porto-systemic shunt and FNH focal nodular Hyperplasia with Cirrhosis of the Liver. (See updates)
This incurable disease is very rare in children and doctors don’t know the cause. Beau now also has heart disease caused by the PAH.
The symptoms are too many to mention but include dizziness, breathlessness, high blood pressure & severe swelling of legs and body which greatly affect Beau’s mobility and quality of life. Although on good days, she can walk a few meters and get around the house, she has to be very careful she doesn’t over do it? She now needs to use a wheelchair when attending appointments, or having days out. Beau could easily collapse at any time with heart failure or hypoxia if her body doesn’t get the oxygen it needs. Someone has to be with her at all times.
Beau is now under the excellent care of Top consultants at London's ‘Great Ormond Street Hospital’ and Newcastle's ‘Freemans Hospital’.
They are currently trying her on various medications to try to control the symptoms. If the symptoms can’t be stabilised this will cause more damage to the heart and she will eventually need a lung transplant and possibly a heart transplant too.
Beau lives with her brother Mark Peacock and his wife Vicky who ensure she is cared for 24hrs a day. Beau’s Mum died suddenly July 2023 aged 39 so Beau has had a very tough 6 months.
Mark and Vicky don’t have the funds to meet Beau’s needs. Due to their own health problems, they are on benefits. They have applied for DLA for Beau which can take 10 weeks.
The costs of regular trips to London and Newcastle hospitals are very expensive, they need help with train fares, meals, refreshments, taxi’s, fuel. They would also like to make her life more comfortable and enjoyable with days out or going to the cinema, holidays and maybe things at home she can play like gaming or a decent tablet. Also simple things like having the heating on a little higher without worrying about the cost. Drs don’t know how long she has to live as it depends if they can control the symptoms with medication. At some point she will likely need a lung transplant as the disease is progressive and is damaging her lungs and heart, the question is when? The medication itself has it’s own risks of causing liver and kidney problems and will make her infertile so even if she lives to adulthood she will never have children. Beau will always need regular monitoring by her consultants.
Any donations you can give will be so much appreciated and will be a massive help to Mark & Vicky so they can give Beau the best life they can as they don’t know how long that will be.
We are aware that there are various charities that can help and later down the line we will look into this but for now it is all extremely overwhelming and creating a lot of anxiety. There is just too much going on right now and we are all struggling mentally.
Please consider donating £20 or whatever you can afford please. It is a massive help to Mark & Vicky.
Thank you so much for your support.

Kindest Regards
