Help for baby Zeke

Donation protected
Savanna and Colton Brown gave birth to
baby Zeke Friday morning at 9:18am. Please consider uplifting them both financially and in prayer. They have so many unforeseen costs right now with gas to the hospital, food while they are there, parking, and medical bills.

Zeke’s shoulders got stuck and he was unable to get his body out after his head. The midwives were able to get him out after 4 to 5 minutes. They instantly started giving him CPR & oxygen since he wasn’t breathing. The ambulance got to the birthing center a few minutes later and transferred him there for more support. They took both Colton and one of the midwives with them while the other midwives helped Savanna.

30 minutes after Zeke was transferred to the hospital next to our birthing center, they determined he potentially had brain damage from the levels of carbon monoxide in his umbilical cord. He was then prepared to be transferred to another hospital in Seattle that has the treatment he needs.

When Zeke finally arrived and was settled in, the doctor did not have good news. They have no idea how much brain damage he has, but he has had seizures. For now, they are cooling Zeke’s body temperature for 72 hours to try to prevent more brain damage and he is on seizure medication. He also has a broken collarbone from the delivery, so he is receiving pain medication for that as well.

After 72 hours, so Monday at 1pm they will begin bringing Zeke’s temp back to normal. After 24 hours of that, they will do a MRI to see how much brain damage he has. From there, they will let us know what the plan is.

Zeke is responsive to both touch and sounds. He started opening his eyes when we were talking to him this morning. The seizures are under control with the medication and he is having bowel movements. He is mostly breathing on his own as well! These signs have been giving us hope.

Please if you would, pray for his brain to heal and for this cooling treatment to do what it’s supposed to do. Right now, we are just waiting for the MRI to know any information. We will try to give an update when we have one.

from the parents:
“ It has been some of the hardest days of our lives so far. Neither Colton or I have been able to hold our baby in our arms, we haven’t been able to kiss his sweet face, or even dress him in the clothes we brought for him. We are so grateful for the treatment being available here in Seattle and know so many are already praying. Thank you all so much for every single prayer sent our way ”

Zeke weighs 9lbs 4oz and is 21 1/2 inches long!
