If you know Amy Gonka and Karen Beauchamp then you know they spend their days dedicated to saving dogs. If you have adopted an OMD dog, Amy has likely been the one that busted your pup out of the shelter. If you foster for us, Amy has been the one to bring you supplies or answered a panicked call in the wee hours of the morning. Amy runs ALL day, EVERY day for all the OMD pups. CACC, various vets, foster's homes, donation pick ups, daycare, transport, med refills, ER trips. Anyone and everyone who knows OMD, knows Amy, her dedication and that she is the heart and soul of our OMD Chicago branch. Karen, her wife, is a bit more behind the scenes but always working on our next gear campaign for OMD, monitoring transport for our pups going from the Midwest to the East coast, co-fostering the many OMD pups in their home, researching potential partnerships with vets and trainers and accompanying Amy on various rescue runs every weekend. Aside from rescue, this amazing duo is also forever helping friends and family. They are the most loyal, kind, compassionate and dedicated people that we know and we feel lucky to call them our friends and rescue family! Their girl, OMD alum, Baby Dory, is at the E.R. and waiting to go in for emergency obstruction surgery. From what the criticalist can see, “the object is short and shaped like it could perforate her intestine" so the surgery is urgent. The estimated cost is $7,000-9,000, which is a staggering number for ANYONE and THEY NEED OUR HELP.

Amy and Karen are always there to support all of us and we want to help them and Baby Dory in any way that we can!
