Help for Atirys

Our two month old son Atirys will have a heart repair surgery Wednesday, May 17th. He was diagnosed in utero with Tetralogy of Fallot, which includes 4 defects which are a hole in the bottom two chambers of his heart, narrowing of the pulmonary valve from the right ventricle, an off centered aorta and thickening of the right ventricular wall. Some of the symptoms that occur with this condition include bluish tints to his extremities, like his lips, hands and feet when he cries, constant rapid breathing, although infants breathe faster than adults, he gasps rather than breathes like a normal infant. In turn, these four defects will be repaired in less than 48 hours. My family and I were under the impression we would be accommodated through the Ronald McDonald House because his hospital stay could be up to 10 days, and we could not afford a hotel for such a lengthy stay. However, I have been notified that my family is 17th in line for accommodations. We will not be able to afford accommodations for up to ten days. His heart will be repaired in Charlottesville, VA. at UVA pediatric hospital. We Reside in Richmond, VA. Which is about 70 miles away. Unfortunately, we only have enough funds available to afford 3 days. In addition to accomodations, we have out of pocket medical expenses for medication he'll need afterwards and for doctor visits. His recovery time is 6 weeks at home. After such a complex surgery, he cannot be in a daycare setting for 6 weeks because of his wound care. My family and I have a combined total of 4 weeks of paid leave from work. We had a policy through Aflac which we assumed his surgery would be covered. Unfortunately, the coverage does not include his condition, therefore we will be financially unstable during his recovery period. We have depleted our savings in order to attempt to meet the out of pocket expenses required to meet the deductible for his medical insurance. Other than his health issues, he is a happy boy and gives us nothing but hope and love through his smiles and coos. Thank you for the prayers and well wishes, we greatly appreciate everything.
