In January 2021, our friend’s mother was diagnosed with triple negative stage IV breast cancer with metastasis. The cancer was located on her sternum, breast, under arm and lymph nodes. Of course, this was very shocking news for the family, as their mother is their pillar. She began treatment as soon as possible but soon new symptoms developed.

 

In June 2021 she began experiencing strong headaches and losing awareness of herself. In July 2021, after a month back and forth in the hospitals she was diagnosed with brain cancer. Because the cancer isn’t in an actual tumor but a layer of cells that cover the brain, it is inoperable.

Since receiving the diagnosis of the brain, she has been receiving weekly chemotherapy for her brain and her body to prevent the cancer spreading to another place. Unfortunately, due to the type of cancer that she is fighting, it is unclear when she’ll be able to stop treatment.

This entire ordeal has been very hard for her sons and daughter since they don’t have family in the US to help us take care of their mom and the expenses. Since July, they have been paying out of pocket, thousands of dollars every week to make sure their mother can get the treatment she needs. They are committed to doing everything they can to take care of their beloved matriarch, but the financial impact of paying for treatments that are not covered by insurance is intense and overwhelming.

The family does not want to burden others with this, so we started this page for them. All of us have or will at some point need some support, and we really appreciate anything you are able to give this amazing family doing their best to take care of their mother.

En Enero del 2021, la mamá de nuestra amiga fue diagnosticada con cancer de mama etapa IV triple negativo con metastasis. Este cancer ya se habia ido a 4 lugares; pecho, esternon, nudos linfaticos y axila. Para sus hijos fue una noticia muy fuerte y dificil de aceptar porque su mamá es su pilar.

 

Cuando pensaban que ella ya habia vencido el cancer empezó a tener dolores de cabeza muy fuertes. Y fue en Julio despues de entrar y salir de los hospitales que les dijeron que el cancer se habia ido al cerebro y no se podia operar.

 

El cancer de su cerebro no se puede operar ya que es una capa de celulas que cubre su cerebro y no un tumor que se pueda remover. Cada semana ella está recibiendo quimioterapia para su cerebro y para su cuerpo para evitar que el cancer se vaya a otro lugar. Desafortunadamente no sabemos cuando sus tratamientos vayan a parar por el tipo de cancer que ella esta luchando.

 

Ha sido un proceso muy dificil para sus hijos ya que no tienen familia en EEUU que les ayuden a cuidarla o pagar los gastos. Desde Julio, han estado pagando el tratamiento, miles de dólares cada semana para asegurarse que su mamá reciba los cuidados que requiere. Están comprometidos en hacer lo que sea necesario para cuidar de su mamá, pero el impacto financiero de pagar los tratamientos que no fueron cubiertos por el seguro médico han sido abrumadores.

La familia no quiere molestar ni ser una carga para otros, por lo que empezamos esta página para ellos. Todos nosotros en algún punto necesitaremos de algún tipo de ayuda, y realmente apreciamos cualquier donativo que le den a esta increíble familia haciendo lo mejor para cuidar de su mamá.
