Help for Alex and Vika Moving from Ukraine to WI
Donation protected
I am asking for help. Our family is sponsoring a young couple form Ukraine to come to the US on the United for Ukraine program. The paperwork is finally approved and they'll be arriving to Hudson (WI) in just a few weeks. They're arriving October 22! We're not related by blood and likely would never meet but for the war in Ukraine. Alex and Vika had to fleer their home because of the Russian invasion. They left everything behind – Vika's home was physically destroyed as a result of the Nova Kakhovka dam breach (there is no home to return to, a few photos included) and Alex left his mom and younger siblings in Ukraine as his dad remains in active combat. Young lives traumatized and completely turned upside-down by this ugly senseless war. They'll be starting over in a new place with no real resources - a suitcase and a very cute cat. We will do whatever we can to help with this difficult transition, emotionally and financially. I have reached out to local nonprofits, but to no surprise their resources are tapped. At this point, we have communities/people helping people. There are countless things this couple will need from basic necessities to long-term housing. I am certain they'll quickly learn basic English, get jobs, and land on their feet, but they need our initial help to get a head start to rebuild their lives. Aside from financial help, if you live in the area and want to help welcome this couple into our community, please reach out as gifts of time and kindness are as valuable. Sharing and speading the word also helps. Thank you!
