Ahmet Alkanli. On January 16th, 2020, due to the misleading road construction, Ahmet was severely injured in a traffic accident exactly one minute away from his home. He was hospitalized due to brain damage caused by the pole that fell on him during the accident.
In the hospital, his family was told that Ahmet was brain dead, and that it was time to pull all of the plugs. His family objected and did not give them consent. About 7 hours later, he started to breathe again which is when the doctors decided to perform an operation to save his life.
His family never left Ahmet alone in the hospital, until visitors were banned due to coronavirus. Ahmet was in intensive care for 3 months without any visitors.
His family went to see Ahmet with excitement on the day the ban was lifted, but they experienced a great sadness for the second time, as Ahmet was not taken care of properly, and his hands and arms began to bend because he lacked physical therapy. Ahmet’s mother's heart could not take this situation any longer and the Alkanli family decided to take a big risk and continue the treatment at home.
Alkanli family managed to put together a fully-equiped intensive care unit with the help they received. Ahmet completed his 5th month at home and his bent hands and arms began to recover with physical therapy. The best development is that he can now answer questions he is asked, with his eyes. These miraculous developments made both his family and his loved ones very happy.
Ahmet's treatment at home is carried out by a team of experts, including a doctor, nurse and physical therapist. Fifty different products are used daily, from Ahmet's stomach-fed food to medicines given 7 times a day, bed care items, health supplies, masks, gloves, and electronic indicators. In order for Ahmet to be alive, his treatments must continue. The money raised was used up within 5 months due to the excessive treatment costs. We are launching a second fundraiser for the Alkanli family in this difficult time, in order for Ahmet to hold on to life. We wish you to accompany the Alkanli family on this difficult journey with your prayers and financial support.
