On October 3rd our lives changed forever. That morning our eldest daughter Abby called me crying with severe back pain. In a matter of a few hours she had partial paralysis from the neck down. She could lift her arms but not use her hands. She could only lift her right leg and could not walk. After admitting her and doing an MRI, they told me she had Transverse Myelitis and didn't know what caused it. It is a neurological disorder. Basically her immune system was attacking her spine. She's had three separate extensive treatments. High dose steroids, IVIG and Plasmapheresis. Gradually she starting getting better. All the testing came back negative for any cause. The good news is, she is walking again and now has some use of her hands. But she will still need Physical and Occupational therapy three times each week for each therapy, for as long as it takes. We are hopeful for a full recovery. We started a GoFundMe because we met our $9000.00 family deductible three times over. Thank God we have insurance but we are still responsible for the deductible and her copay for each therapy session. Therapy will cost us $30 a session. And with at least 5 sessions a week, it'll add up fast! We are so grateful for all of the help we've received so far and wish we didn't have to ask for more. But any little bit helps! Thank you for helping our family :) We are truly grateful.
