Help For A Single Mom Navigating Cancer Treatment

Hello, my name is Kami. I am a single mom of one. I am raising funds for myself and my son. At the young age of 30, our lives were turned upside down when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The day we found out the doctors had given me a treatment plan. Eventually, I scheduled myself for surgery and a few weeks later I began treatment. My mom is 62 years old, and she comes to stay with me to help me cook, clean, help with my son and shower & bath me when I am too weak too. She helps me with pretty much everything I need help with. My mom does everything she can, and I am so blessed to have her.

I set out to find support and financial assistance for my son and myself. Surely there was government funding to assist sick moms in looking after their children? Surely large cancer fundraising organizations have enough funding to support individual circumstances like this? Sadly no ....... regrettably, sick moms fall through the cracks. While there is a very minimum support, it's not enough to make a slight dent in what we need to survive. I have applied for government assistance and was approved for $500 a month in food and $138 every other week cash and put on a 7-year long waiting list for a housing voucher.

My treatment plan is currently 5 months, as we know, cancer is an illness that could take a turn at any moment. I am currently looking to raise money, just enough to pay my monthly bills and if anything is left over, or more than necessary is donated, I will put it in an account for my son for college.
