Help for a new immigrant family
Donation protected
Emerson has been such a hardworking young man to make his family's immigration to America a success. He's taking care of all the requirements needed to immigrate here legally. I've learned so much about the system and how it works and doesn't work. But Emerson is not a quitter. He loves his family and he's doing the work to do this right. Wonderful organizations like La Raza and Zuckerberg Hospital and WIC have been very helpful. The friends at Mission Dolores Basilica have been a lifeline. Your donations have kept them housed during all the rains of 2023.
Alicia is due in April with their 2nd child. He and Alicia and Genesis are still in the hotel because it's very, very hard to find a place that doesn't cost more than $2,500.00 a month. We were hoping to find a less expensive place, but it's been impossible.
Right now they have a potential place that will become available in May. If you can find a way to donate, they will be able to stay in the hotel until the apartment opens in May.
He and Alicia and Genesis, as well as Paul and I thank you for your love and support.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to me for more information.
We met Emerson, Alicia, and little Genesis the day they arrived in San Francisco from El Salvador via Texas. They had no place to stay on a cold, rainy night, so we took them in for a few nights in our little house in San Bruno. They are applying for asylum in the US, a process that will take many months. In the meantime, they need to reside in San Francisco to be eligible for support services and aid provided by several charitable organizations including our church. They may even receive aid for rent once they have secured a lease since the aid is paid directly to the landlord.
We want to raise enough to obtain a lease ASAP on an apartment that is now available in the Mission District, where Emerson has already identified work opportunities. That apartment means ongoing shelter and access to immigration process and medical services. Naturally, there are some other immediate financial obligations.
Your contributions will allow them to become part of the community and grow the friendships they have already started through us. We have been very gratified and encouraged by the response of our friends with donations of food, clothing, and toys. We are also impressed by the spirit, courage, and energy of this young family as they continue this at times perilous journey. We want to do whatever we can to assist them and continue to be part of their lives.
We will be so grateful for your participation. We wish for you the same blessings that we have already received.
