Nobody should have to battle cancer even once in their life but to have to do it twice is unimaginable. Please join us to help this fellow craftsman ‘get the job done’ and kick cancer again!  He’s a spirited fighter and hopeful to be back on his feet in about 3 months or so.

Steve O’Collin is a friend, father, co-worker, craftsman and one of the sincerest souls that we know. He is a passionate creator, a genuine friend and a spirited and strong cancer survivor.

 

Originally from Ontario, he moved ‘out west’ to explore business opportunities and a new relationship. He started his own business, Crescent Moon Woodworks, and has created many beautiful small and large projects over the years. When things were going well several years ago, his life was ground to almost a full stop when he was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. He fought through radiation and was able to win that battle for his life. These past few years, he has worked extremely hard to regain momentum for his business and now, when he is starting to get back on his feet, he has been challenged yet again.

 

In recent months, he continued to work while struggling through extreme pain and severe shortness of breath. Finally, after enduring a barrage of tests, last week a CT Scan revealed the cause of his suffering…Cancer in his spine and lungs. The doctor called him on a job site and told him to go directly to hospital for an emergency MRI. They told him if he had kept working for even a few more days, he likely would have been paralyzed due to the damage to his upper vertebrae. How he manages to keep going just speaks to how dedicated and tough he is ! His work ethic pushed him almost to that point to ‘get the job done’ however, it is also that strength of character that will get him through this again.

 

He is now at Kelowna General Hospital where he underwent a 6 hour surgery to support his upper spine yesterday. Today he has to focus on recovery from surgery so he can undergo radiation in the not too distant future. He’s a spirited fighter and hopeful to be back on his feet in about 3 months or so. We are here to help him through this extremely difficult time.

 

It’s time that we, his friends, family, coworkers, and fellow craftsmen take up the slack and support him to get the job done and kick cancers butt again.
