Deysi is a young mama who is seeking asylum in the United States after fleeing violence in Peru. She has two children, including a son with Aspergers who is recovering from hernia surgery and is seven months pregnant with her third child.
Her partner has been experiencing complications of diabetes that have forced him out of work. Deysi is asking for help to pay their growing medical and legal bills.
Like so many of us, this family was barely making ends meet to begin with. Now, without income and rising medical and legal bills, the small savings they had built has been drained. The state’s social safety net was barely there to begin with - especially for pregnant, immigrant mothers - but under rising xenophobia and local governance cowardice, the net is in tatters.
But, we got us.
We show up for one another by giving what we can and asking for what we need. Deysi and her family need support today to ensure their safety, shelter, and well-being. If you have an extra $1, $10, $100, consider redistributing your resources. Thank you
