Destination Imagination team Flying Colors has had an outstanding competitive season, demonstrating creativity, collaboration, and advanced problem-solving skills. Team members, under the guidance of Team Managers Mrs. Patricia Segura and Dr. Micaela Vargas earned an impressive second-place finish at the Capital Regional Tournament at Cele Middle School in Pflugerville.
Their success was driven by strong performances in both the Instant Challenge and the Team Challenge, where they tackled a technical challenge by designing and building an original game show. The team applied principles of computer, electrical, and mechanical engineering to develop a fully functional and engaging system that showcased both innovation and teamwork.
Advancing from regionals, Flying Colors competed at the Lone Star Finals held at the University of Texas at Arlington. Facing 42 teams from across the state, securing a Top 6 placement, earning them a coveted spot at the Destination Imagination Global Finals.
The team will represent our community at DI Globals in Kansas City, Missouri, from May 21–24, where they will compete against other countries performing the same challenges. Their achievement reflects not only working well with each other, but also perseverance, creativity, and collaboration.

Flying Colors is a team of 4th and 5th graders taking part in Destination Imagination. These talented students have spent the year working together, solving complex challenges, and building creative solutions as part of Destination Imagination, an internationally recognized STEM and creativity program. Their dedication, teamwork, and innovative thinking have earned them a spot at the Texas State Lone Star Finals competition in April 2026—a huge accomplishment for these young learners!
