Hi, we're James & Charlotte, parents to Florence.

Our daughter Florence is 9 years old and the bravest person we know.

Two years ago, she twisted her left ankle on the trampoline — a seemingly small accident that became the start of something unthinkable. The pain never fully went away. It only got worse.

She was eventually diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) — a rare and incredibly painful neurological condition. Over time, the pain has spread from her ankle to both her lower legs, wrists, and hands. She now lives in constant, severe pain, every single day.

There is no cure for CRPS, and treatment options in the UK for children are very limited. We've tried everything we can — medications, therapies, appointments with a CRPS specialist — but nothing has worked for her or is an option.

We're now turning to what may be our last hope:

Scrambler Therapy, a non-invasive treatment that has shown promising results for some CRPS patients. There is a chance she isn't a responder but we have to try, we have to try getting her back to her gymnastics, her running and her childhood.

Unfortunately, it’s not available for children in the UK. But there is a specialist clinic in Germany with Markus Seuthe that will treat Florence. The treatment, travel, accommodation, and follow-up care come at a significant cost — and that's why we’re asking for your help.

We never imagined we’d be here, asking strangers for support. Asking for a babysitter is hard enough for us to ask for but we’ve reached the point where we have no other options.

James is Running 50 Miles for Florence.

In January 2026, James will take on the Arc of Attrition 50 — a 50-mile ultramarathon along the brutal Cornish coast. He’ll run through wind, rain, cold and darkness because, in his words:

“If Florence can face this pain every day, I can run 50 miles for her.”

This fundraiser will cover:

-Scrambler Therapy treatment in Germany

-Travel and accommodation for Florence and a parent

-Aftercare, adaptive equipment, and rehabilitation

-Support for her physical and emotional recovery with Tim Beames her CRPS specialist
