Hi everyone! My name is Flora and I’m a journalism and a recently qualified lawyer from Brazil. I’ve spent more than a decade working on internet governance and digital rights.
This year, I was accepted to the MPhil in Socio-Legal Research at the University of Oxford. It's been a long term dream of mine to study at Oxford (as you can see in one of the photos, taken back in 2017, wearing an Oxford jumper).
I come from a family with a modest background and have been working in civil society for the last 10 years. This became a challenge when I was not able to secure funding. However, I truly believe in my research and decided to self-fund the degree.
The total cost of the programme is £55,000. With my own funds and help from my family, I have managed to cover about £40,000. However, I still need to raise around £15,000 to make my dream a reality without taking on debt or abandoning my studies.
Your donation, whether large or small, will go directly towards my tuition fees and living costs, helping me to fully dedicate myself to my studies.
My research project focuses on participation mechanisms in Internet Governance. This is a project I deeply believe can contribute not only to the governance of the digital space itself but also to broader reflections on international governance and how to make it more democratic.
By supporting me, you are not only helping a Brazilian woman researcher achieve her dream of studying at Oxford, you are also investing in making the internet a better place for everyone.
Thank you for your support.
