Help Float Carl and Revive the Last Express 37

Carl Schumacher/Naval Architect, created numerous successful designs during his short life. Most notable, the Express Line of sailboats, produced by Alsberg Bros. Boatworks in Santa Cruz, Ca. Express 27, 34, and 37 have been, over the course of time, prolific and favored sailboats. I currently own Hull #39, "Main Squeeze." When I purchased Main Squeeze in 2024, I was informed of the "Last Hull" Express 37, having never been assembled and in storage in Washington state. Curious, I pursued the mystery boat, and "Yes," it exists. I have recovered the hull, deck, and interior; basically, the entire boat as it was on the brink of being cut up and hauled away in a dumpster along with a barn full of interior components, and a never-out-of-the-crate Yanmar 3gm diesel, keel, and mast. I flew to Washington this past March 2025, met with the owner, and made plans to return it to Santa Cruz for assembly. It is currently under construction here in Santa Cruz under construction. See Instagram Express_37_Carl.

I am reaching out to the sailing community for financial support in constructing and floating the boat I have named "Carl" (i.e., Schumacher) and would appreciate your financial support as this is a major undertaking. Thanks for your generous donation. Capt Darrel Louis
