In the early morning hours of Sunday September 10th, beloved artist Flip Solomon was involved in a car accident in Bastrop County, TX. Her car careened off the highway, through the guardrail, some signage and landed in the ditch of the highway divide. Flip is going to be O.K. but she will likely have permanent nerve damage in her right arm (her drawing arm). Both airbags of her car deployed, most likely saving her life, but her car was totaled. Besides a concussion and the damage to her right arm and shoulder, most of her injuries were superficial and involved swelling and bruising of her arms and ribcage. The doctors say she was incredibly lucky.

Thankfully no one else was harmed and Flip doesn't remember much from before or after the accident. The doctor said her wounds looked like she had pulled hard to the left with her right arm, most likely to avoid hitting another car or an animal. She had hurt herself the day before, transporting a heavy ladder from her studio and had been nauseous and having issues with her vision then. The last thing she remembers were the lane markings appearing doubled and blurred and having to cover one eye to make her vision straight again. It's possible she got a concussion the day before, fell asleep, then woke up the next morning and drove, not realizing she was already concussed.

Flip's being taken care of by family and friends in Austin and has been resting on the weekends at her ex-boyfriend's or my house. She bought a TV for her camper and has mostly been watching TV on painkillers, resting and sleeping for the last few weeks.

This GoFundMe is to get Flip get back on her feet financially. She faces the cost of exams, medical bills, physical therapy plus buying a new car. She hates asking for help but with her large community of friends I'm hoping we can reach the goal. If you can pitch in even $10 or $20, it will be so helpful to help relieve her financial strain.

Other things needed:

1) CAR: The impound lot and her mechanic have some leads on cars for her but if you know anyone selling a reliable used car around the $4000-5000 range, please HMU

2) If anyone knows acupressure and does house calls, please have them contact Christina

3) If anyone has any waterproof outdoor storage benches that they don't need, that is what she was driving to pick up off Marketplace when she crashed.

4) I live 2 blocks away and have been checking in on her/ bringing groceries and I'm happy to relay any messages to her :) She can't text or type using her right hand yet so messages sent to her may go unanswered for a bit.
